Detroit Summer Live Arts Media Project videos

Last summer, Detroit Summer Live Arts Media Project (LAMP) youth leaders facilitated a 3-week workshop, building off the past two years of organizing they had done through the hip hop audio documentary, Rising Up From the Ashes: Chronicles of A Drop-out.

In the workshop, they created three short video documentaries, proposing solutions to one of the school system’s deepest problems: the record-breaking drop-out rate. They didn’t just pull these solutions out of thin air, they developed them out of a two year process of leading workshops in schools and community centers around Detroit and conducting a survey of 300 current and former students of Detroit Public Schools. Detroit Summer LAMP youth are now developing a curriculum around the videos in order to broadcast the ideas far and wide throughout our community and beyond.
